Participants try to achieve a hole-in-one while discovering the conflicts of the War of 1812, in which Put-in-Bay played an essential part.

Reading back on what I've composed trying to capture the vibe of South Bass Island, it, in a sense, feels like a New England fishing town. It has a very romantic nautical vibe, and if you blink your eyes and listen to the sounds, you can picture being in the Florida Keys. Try the Antique Car Museum and the Rock Wall Climb. When you have an opportunity to go, GO! Whatever you take away in your memories of this place, I'm sure it will be amazing.

One of the most significant weekends is the third weekend of September. It is an early New Year's celebration and the official end of the tourist season. It is one giant party. Many fun things like the Rock Wall Climb are still open and fun. Mardi Gras meets Put-in-Bay. If you are a boater, there are excellent piers and anchorages. Be careful of Storms, particularly from the southwest. Lake Erie is notorious for horrific waves during storms. If you plan to stay on the island, book far in advance; B&Bs and other accommodations are sold out weeks and months in advance.

Normally, this is a family destination, with bicycle and golf cart rentals, caves to explore, a Rock Wall Climb, and unique historical and academic places of interest, the most celebrated being the Perry Victory and International Peace Memorial.

There is so much to see and accomplish on the speck of ground in the Western Basin of Lake Erie, from the downtown bars and eateries where there is always a cause to be festive to the back streets that take you to a different world. Exceptional parcels, homes, and stunning views of Lake Erie and the neighboring islands will make you feel like you jetted off to a foreign land. The pace is slower. There is no need to try and outdo someone else. If you relax and enjoy what is there, you will have a fantastic time. Be sure to try the Butterfly House and the Rock Wall Climb.

The Bass Islands, especially South Bass Island and Put in Bay, have a particular spot in my heart. It is my first recollection of a family vacation. It is also where I had my honeymoon. I take my kids now; they enjoy the caves and Rock Wall Climb.

Put an Island in Your Life! What a fantastic weekday family stays! I say weekday because the island is partygoers' dream on the weekend, but during the week, it is the ideal place for a family to vacation. So much to visit and accomplish! It will maintain everyone content with no concern about their age. Excellent shopping (be sure to stop at Compass Pointe shops!), Rock Wall Climb for kids, caverns that the children will treasure, and Perry's Monument is something for the entire household. The ship ride over is fun and provides an understanding of living on an island. A truly magical day!

The entire island is well cared for, tidy and neat. I spent several hours going around and examining things. Golf carts outnumber cars by about 5 or 10 to one. It's a charming island. The Jet Express to the island was fast and effortless, except for the expense. I went on a Tuesday in mid-June, and it was not really busy.

Excellent time on the Rock Wall Climb. There is so much to do at Put-in-Bay. There is way more than just eateries and taverns. There are small galleries, Perry's memorial, a fishery that The Ohio State University owns, and a lighthouse. There is a state park where one can go camping, two wineries, a cave, and the world's biggest Giode you can walk inside. Also, you can hike through shallow water and walk around Buckeye Island, which is uninhabited.

Best of the BAY !! You want to Stay! South Bass Island Well, where do I start? LOL, Well, for children & older individuals, there is camping, swimming, fishing, putt-putt, an airport with helicopter rides, swimming putt-putt, a butterfly house, Rock Wall Climb, golf cart rentals to take your children on, and things for all ages. The tour trains to enjoy the sounds & sites of South Bass Island. Lots of great places to eat candy and ice cream & many good places to eat, too many to name. You have convenient golf cart parking, and we found a bathroom by the Jet Express area in their playground. They have swings and picnic tables & you can oversee the boats & Jet Express come in and out. On the other side of the island, you can grab the ferry to South Bass, and it's a bit slower, but so what? Relax & appreciate the panoramic views! There are golf carts in each area to lease. You can take a taxi about likewise. Dogs are welcome on a leash & clean up your mess. We love Lake Erie and Always have! To us, it is Beautiful & always will be to us! A lot of nature to see just at the right moment. To see the shimmering crystal waters glow in the sun! Wow, what an incredible sensation of the warm sun on your face & the waves gently or slapping the shores; what a wonderful relaxing feeling. We like to go on sunny days; who would not! We even saw The Great Ohio State Band there! GO BUCKEYES! Even if no events are going on, make your own! Like

Fun Day with the Family at Perrys Cave and the Rock Wall Climb. We had a wonderful day here. We have two young kids and brought our bikes over on the ferry, so we did not have to lease a golf cart. Too much peddling! Next time we will get a golf cart rental. We stopped and got a map and consumed the day investigating the isle. There was a fantastic playground downtown for the children to recreate on. We also played mini-golf, did the Rock Wall Climb, visited Perry's Monument, watched airplanes at the Put-in-Bay airport, and did some shopping. Depending on your strategy, you could spend as much or as little money as you want here.

Family of 7 cruising Put-in-Bay. The weather was fine for our stay. We took the Jet Express over to the island. I rented a Put-in-Bay Villa that sleeps 8. Those are pretty nice lodgings. We toured a winery resale shop and lots of pubs. Service at all the establishments was good. We traveled from Wed. to Fri. to avoid the more youthful crowds. We had a blast trying the get up the Rock Wall Climb.

Rock Wall Climb Great for households with young kiddos! My hubby and I brought our three-year-old son to Put-in-Bay for the 4th of July. It was our first time, and we had a wonderful time! We brought the Miller's Ferry(military discount!) to South Bass Island. Children 5 and under are complimentary. The ferry has a top deck, and our son Adored it. The ride was about 20-25 min. We had booked a 4-passenger golf cart online from Put-in-Bay Golf Carts, and they were the least expensive and had the nicest golf cart rentals. That was awesome. The BEST way to get about the island there is golf cart parking Everyplace, so it really was convenient. We visited Perry's Family Fun Center and went to the Butterfly House(SO neat!), and the lids loved the Rock Wall Climb. We also trekked Perry's Cave which was fun., I've been on better, but it was awesome. The stairs to the cave were narrow and steep, and it was like 50 degrees in the cavern. We ate lunch at the Upper Deck Restaurant, and the view was incredible. Waterfront dining at its best, And the food and service were satisfactory. Spinach dip is Amazing!! Children can watch the boats, helicopters, and birds, so there are tons to keep them engaged' The kid's menu is pretty mixed, which was excellent. We got dessert at the Dairy Isle, which has cheeseburgers, shakes, malts, etc. There are a few playgrounds and a merry-go-round. The lighthouse, picnic areas, beaches, cafes, and shopping are all right there so you can park and wander effortlessly. They also had an antique car procession which our son adored. After walking around for a bit, we returned, turned our golf cart in, and took the ferry back across to Catawba Island, where we parked our car for $5. There are five lots you can park in for Miller's Ferry passengers.
