A Boating Adventure Packed Full Fun!

Put-in-Bay, Ohio, offers a variety of marinas with options for docks, both public and private. When planning a boat trip to Put-in-Bay, it’s important to note that many docks operate on a first-come, first-served basis, especially during busy weekends and holidays. To secure a spot, arriving as early as possible is recommended.

The village of Put-in-Bay maintains three large boat docks in the downtown area, with two managed by the Put-in-Bay Village and the other, known as “B” dock, managed by the DeRivera Park Trust.

Additionally, some privately owned boat docks accept advance reservations, and it’s common for weekends to fill up quickly, so early planning and making reservations is advisable.

When docking at the public marinas in Put-in-Bay, it may be necessary to “raft off” from 2 to 4 vessels. To ensure a smooth experience, bringing boat fenders & lines and practicing courteous rafting etiquette is essential.

It’s especially important to be considerate when returning late at night to avoid disturbing other boaters who may be asleep.

While docked at Put-in-Bay, there are various options for transportation. Golf carts, bicycles, and mopeds can be rented, located in the central island area at Put-in-Bay Golf Carts across the street from the docks. Rentals can be arranged by the hour, day, or even overnight for multiple days. Advance reservations are strongly suggested, as carts are frequently sold out.

Arriving on a bustling Saturday afternoon, it seemed like every dock on the island was occupied. I reached out to all the marinas on the radio, but they informed me that they were at full capacity, including Park Place. While contemplating our next move, I received an unexpected call from Park Place, asking if I was still in need of a slip. It turned out to be my lucky day, as they had an opening just for us. They provided clear directions on the put-in-bay dock map how to reach the slip and had two friendly dock hands ready to assist us upon arrival. The marina boasted an incredible bathhouse with private showers, ensuring our comfort during the stay. Being situated near the Keys restaurant, we enjoyed a captivating view of people leisurely making their way to the Jet Express in the morning. The cost for the night was $90, and the check-in process was a breeze. From now on, Park Place will be the first marina I contact whenever I visit the island again!
