Mossbacks Island Grill

Mossbacks Island Grill is our favorite of all the put-in-bay restaurants. Mossbacks menu is extensive enough that everyone in out group was able to find something they liked. It is not one of the expensive put in bay restaurants on the water but it is close by. It is located across the street from boardwalk put-in-bay and close to most put in bay hotels

BEST WALLEYE & PERCH! We arrived at Mossbacks Island Grill earlier before the lunch mob so that was a plus. The waitperson was very familiar with the menu & very lovely. Service was fast, but their fisherman's combo meal was the best thing. The Walleye and Perch were huge portions & coleslaw was scrumptious. We had perch/walleye meals several times at different put in bay restaurants & this was the best & worth the money.

Father's day group-Our household was here on the Saturday before Father's Day. We phoned ahead because we had ten adults and three kids. Our waitperson was cordial, helpful, and took very good care of us. They were accommodating and prepared a table when we arrived in a quiet corner with a view of the lake. The food was excellent. The appetizers, sandwiches, and drinks were all delicious. I had the Lake Erie perch and perogies. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious. I recommend this for families who want a place with good food and away from the loud bars.

Dining in the Historic Valentine Doller Building at Mossbacks Island Grill was excellent. It is found across Bayview Avenue from Put-in-Bay Harbor at the corner of Catawba and Bayview. The Boardwalk Restaurant and DeRivera Park are also just across the street. Mossbacks Island Grill shares the historic Valentine Doller structure with FishBowl bar. This historic Put-in-Bay building was designated after Valentine Doller, the mysterious 19th-century patriarch of the Put-in-Bay's most influential family. I adore old buildings and old architecture. I, therefore, appreciated the "antiquity" of this eatery, the dark woodwork, furnishings, and decor. They serve Breakfast (10 AM-noon), lunch, and dinner. They have seating in the central bar area and on the adjacent enclosed terrace, which provides excellent street-side views. Our waitperson was amazing. She did a fantastic job with our orders, consistently with a smile. Their menu contains appetizers, salads, soups, steaks, seafood baskets, pierogies, sandwiches, and burgers. They also have wines, beers, and cocktails. We tried their Grilled Vegi Panini (Broccoli, red onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, mozzarella, and provolone cheese, grilled rosemary sourdough bread with marinara on the side) and their Lake Erie Perch & Pierogies (lightly dusted fresh Lake Erie Perch with cheese and potato pierogies topped with grilled onions and a side of coleslaw). We visited in Put in Bay for several days. I tried perch and Walleye at a half dozen other locations. The Perch at Mossbacks was my obvious choice. It was lightly dusted with breading and fried exactly as it should be - not dried out. I loved it. I The pierogies were also lightly fried and so flavorful. My only regret is that we did not return to Mossbacks, during our visit, for more than this single meal. We need to rectify our mistake on a forthcoming visit to South Bass Island

We had great carry-out food twice during our recent stay at Put-in-Bay. Excellent quality and selections at Mossbacks Island Grill. Tried the Blue Cheese burger, which was great as were walleye and perch sandwiches. One of the better put-in-bay restaurants

Walleye or Perch. Or both? We were stopped on a windy October night at Mossbacks Island Grill. We were the only patrons on a cold Wednesday night. We were welcomed with a smile and treated to an amazing Walleye and Perch dinner. Well, Done Mossbacks! Thank You for consistently bringing your A-game and producing a fantastic dinner yet again.

Amazing Walleye and Pierogies- Mossbacks Island Grill had unique walleye bites. We did the appetizer and then requested another on it was that good. The breading is cornmeal with some cajun seasoning. Very yummy. The pierogies were outstanding. They are handcrafted and delectable. We live in Cleveland, and I have never had pierogies better than Mossbacks. Our waitperson was a little new, but the food made that not even matter. I highly advise dining here. If you favor Moscow Mules, try one with Apple Vodka. Amazing!

I almost exploded!-We stopped to dine at Mossbacks Island Grill on our first day there. The amount of food they give you is absurd! I had the wonderful shrimp tacos, and my husband had a HUGE burger. The onion rings are Noteworthy, and the sauerkraut balls were Awesome! I suggest you split whatever you're thinking of ordering. And we didn't eat dinner that nite! We were still full the next day! A great choice among put-in-bay restaurants

Good food, good portions, good value compared to some of the other restaurants on Put-in-Bay. Mossbacks Island Grill food was priced similarly but with better portions. My husband got the daily special, a 12oz T bone cooked just as he asked, and I had the perch and perogies. They were both amazing. We love the put-in-bay restaurants they are all so fun!

Dinner at Mossbacks Island Grill was a hit! The establishment is nicely decorated and clean, and the service is excellent. The food was delicious also. The family had several menu items, and all were pleased. Wanted to try the fresh Walleye, but I didn't want to pay nearly 30 dollars for it, so I settled for a delicious chicken sandwich. They also make a superb Bloody Mary!

Excellent place for Breakfast or lunch anytime. My wife & I enjoyed a great dinner at this restaurant. The walleye & perch basket was perfect, and my wifey also seemed to enjoy her cheeseburger. Mossbacks Island Grill was one of the more reasonably-priced locations on the island, and we were pretty satisfied with both the food & service.
