Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center

Discovered on Catawba Avenue, less than a mile from downtown, Perry’s Cave is the epicenter of fun on Put-in-Bay. This island organization has entertained households for years, and visiting Perry’s is undoubtedly an island tradition.

Things To Do At Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center

• Perry’s Cave

• DanDee’s Snack Shack

• War Of 18 Holes Miniature Golf

• Gemstone Mining

• Fort Amazen

• The Butterfly House

• Antique Car Museum

• Rock Wall

Spending an entire day here or making multiple trips while staying on the island is easy. The center was constructed around Perry’s Cave, a limestone cave with a subterranean lake.

Put-in-Bay’s ecology is fascinating and unusual, and Perry’s Cave shows off this little island’s attractiveness. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry uncovered the cave in 1813 and used the water to quench his troops’ thirst when they required it the most. A tour of Perry’s Cave is a must before or after a trip through Fort Amazen.

DanDee’s Snack Shack has fed tourists delicious treats like mac’ n cheese bites, funnel fries, and lots of ice cream to cool you down for many years.

Along with Fort Amazen and Perry’s Cave, contend with buddies at the War of 18 Holes Mini-Golf, perhaps the most unusual course you’ve ever seen. The Antique Car Museum captivates the history buffs in the family.

The Butterfly House is always a perfect choice when you need something peaceful and quiet. This beautiful aviary incorporates hundreds of flitting butterflies with comforting music. Make sure to take a journey to the gift shop before you depart!

We visited Fort Amazen it was very fun. We also loved the gem mining and skimming through all the stones in the shop. We also purchased a Geode that they broke open for us. Very cool, and I like it more than I thought I would. I’d do it again. Located close to all the put-in-bay hotels. One of our favorite put-in-bay things to do

We appreciated seeing Fort Amazen and the cave and learning a bit about its history of it and the area. Our family was the only one on the tour expedition, so it was very personalized. We even discovered some things we could relate to another cave we visited. There are four caves in Ohio. Once you visit all 4, you earn a T-shirt.

We did the caves as parts of a combo ticket for $24, along with the Fort Amazen and the mini golf. The tour was about 20 minutes long, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The caves themselves were relatively cool. Heartbreaking to know that the previous owners didn’t respect the caves and try to preserve them, but glad to see that they are making efforts to protect them now. Recommend doing once! Glad we did the put-in-bay attraction packages as it saved us money.

Fort Amazen was the highlight of our trip for our kids. They really enjoyed the maze as well as the gemstone mining, cave tour, mini golf, and maze. The cave tour is concise and felt a little underwhelming. However, gemstone mining was a lot of fun, and you get a lot of value for the expense. The packet deal (multiple attractions) was well worth it for our home. The maze has a fun scavenger hunt that kept our kids entertained in the maze for a while. Mini golf is well-kept. The team running the place couldn’t be more excellent and helpful. A great experience (good to know: the butterfly house is contiguous, and the winery/other cave is across the street)

As of June 2021, everyone can enjoy Fort Amazen. At this fun family center, you can enjoy all the activities for 1 hour to half a day. There are a couple of free things, but separately $6-10 dollars, or get a combo ticket and save. Activities include a tour of a crystal cave, Fort Amazen, mini-golf, an artificial maze course, a rock climbing wall, an antique car & bike showroom, gemstone mining, a food truck, and clean restrooms. An all-ages action place. A fun activity for good weather, whether you’re on the island for a day, a week, or the summer. Ask about the cave trail shirts while you visit.
