The Fish Bowl Bar
The Fish Bowl at Put-in-Bay is a cool place to hangout for island visitors. This historical building was recently renovated, providing island guests a comfortable, relaxed environment. An expanded deck on the south side of the building is a great place to sit, and people watch! The downtown location keeps you close to everything!
The Fish Bowl Particulars
The Fish Bowl is located next door to Mosssbacks Restaurant right on Catawba Avenue. The building has served many purposes over the years, including the village hardware store. Historically it is known as the Valentine Doller building. The Victorian structure has the words V. Doller carved on the front. Valentine Doller was a Put-in-Bay luminary serving as both its first postmaster and eventually the mayor!
Across the street, DeRivera park and its well-manicured greenery is a great place to relax. This lovely park is a tribute to the islands founding father Jose DeRivera and the green heart of downtown Put-in-Bay. Just a short walk away is the Jet Express Terminal and the Boardwalk Restaurant Complex.

The bar is quirky, eclectic, and lots of fun! With their massive fish bowl drinks, things are sure to get going late into the evening. The weekends always feature a popular DJ spinning the hottest track and the occasional live musician. The entire vibe is casual upscale! The bar features an antique finish of dark wood, classic decor, and a party atmosphere.
Mossbacks
Mossbacks shares the same building and menu with the Fish bowl but also offers a more extensive drinks menu. The extensive wine menu includes house pours by Canyon Road, including, Pinot Grigio, White Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. Select from imported or domestic beers. The list of local craft beers is very impressive.

Fish Bowl Great service and food! I had the perch tacos. Fresh, flavorful. I asked what the sauce was but was told it’s a secret. Reuben Balls were also very good! We will be back!
Stopped for a drink and appetizers. The cocktails were unique and very interesting. Basil mojito was the bomb. Had dinner of appetizers. They were very good. Would recommend Fish Bowl to anyone.
Been coming to Put-in-Bay for years and never stopped in the Fish Bowl here. Glad we checked it out. Great selection of beers. They also had entertainment going on. Will definitely be back next time at Put-in-Bay.
Another stop for our yearly Put-In-Bay adventure is the Fish Bowl. Great specialty shark shots, as well as other specialty drinks. You’ll love the live entertainment, enjoyed either inside or out on the side patio. They also serve some great food. Be sure to grab souvenirs, too!
Big Fun! Almost too big! For all, you adventurous types out there: the drink of the same name as the venue, “the fish bowl” is meant to be SHARED. I ordered 2 not knowing what it was – literally a fishbowl with 4 straws in it. Fortunately, I had help!
Food was great. I had the buffalo chicken. Only had water to drink. Prices weren’t too bad but maybe on the pricy said just a little. But everything on the island is probably like that. Andy was the bartender at the Fish Bowl and he was cool.
So I came to Put-In-Bay looking for something I’ve been missing lately in my life.. I found it. Fish Bowl. I walk into a great environment. Everybody in there was having the time of their lives! The bartender Kayla, was out of this world. Her personality and general aura kept the bar filled throughout my time there. In the midst of all the fun, I was introduced to something you call the “world’s” best mozzarella sticks.
Lemme tell you they weren’t lying! The flavor, crunch, perfection of the melted cheese. Gosh, I wish I was back there just thinking about them. I met with the Chef and everything. If anything the mozzarella sticks alone are a reason to visit the island. Perfection. Life Changer. Enough said.
Matt, Kayla, Mike, and Anthony at the Fish Bowl are some of the most fun people to spend the day with. Get the perch & pierogies, you won’t regret it
