The Fish Bowl

The Fish Bowl Particulars

The Fish Bowl is located next door to Mosssbacks Restaurant, right on Catawba Avenue. The building has served many purposes over the years, including the village hardware store. Historically it is known as the Valentine Doller building. The Victorian structure has the words V. Doller carved on the front. Valentine Doller was a Put-in-Bay luminary serving as both its first postmaster and eventually the mayor!

Across the street, DeRivera Park and its well-manicured greenery is a great place to relax. This lovely park is a tribute to the islands founding father, Jose DeRivera, and the green heart of downtown Put-in-Bay. The Jet Express Terminal and The Keys Restaurant Complex are just a short walk away.

A piece of heaven. This is usually a daytime trip for us. It is a stunning ship ride over from Port Clinton. We leased a golf cart to move around and stop for shopping, sightseeing, and meals. This small gem of an island has plenty to deliver, and it's just a nice escape, even for a day, although there are many establishments to spend the night in if you choose. Lots of shopping and restaurant options are available. I love The Fish Bowl!

Beautiful Place! The Island is so lovely and picturesque. There are many things to see and do while there. You need to rent a golf cart, as that is the primary way around the Island. We did the train tour, and it was outstanding!! The Fish Bowl was a lively and fun place to eat. So fun to discover about the history while visiting the sights! put in bay hotels were all nice, especially the Put-in-Bay Resort.

We stayed on a Tuesday with my 65 yr old parents and 12 and 13-year-old kids and had an excellent time. The Island is quaint. I recommend getting a golf cart to ride around in. We were told not to bring kids on the weekends because parties get wild, but it was fine during the week. Lots of cute shops, homes, and eateries. the fish bowl put in bay was our favorite place to eat.

Everyone hears about the Put-In-Bay party scene, but if you're seeking a peaceful, restful few days to enjoy the sun, water, and scenery, you've found the correct location. We came here for a no-frills, low-cost getaway, and we found it by renting a cabin, bringing our bikes, and packing our food. The Fish Bowl was a great place the night we did eat out. the fish bowl put in bay is in the center of town and easy to find.Put In Bay ought to modernize and enhance its marketing and promotion to offer more than just bars and shopping. They could also provide more details and invest more funds into those geared toward a more organic affair.

Day trip To Put-in-Bay-We had a fantastic day. We rented a golf cart. Some cart rental places needed a credit card which I didn't take, so I went across the street and to Delaware Carts, and they accepted cash—printed off coupons off the Put-in-Bay Vistors and Convention Bureau website. Also, a woman passed out maps and coupons for this golf cart rental as we got off Ferry. Also, their website had a coupon for The Fish Bowl and Dairy Isle. I couldn't take the car for a round Sunday trip, but I had a great time on the golf cart. $12 per hour with a $65 max for all day. We used it for three hours. We did no excursions or caves, just carted to the South Bass Island State Park and wildlife preserve, hiked trails (saw rat snake), and watched the boats and jet skis. It was a pleasant diversion from the usual weekend.

Exemplary midweek activity for families. We went to South Bass Island for the week, Monday thru Friday, and we had a wonderful time. We heard all about this place from friends. We were coming on the weekend and were happy to have planned to leave as the boats were full for the weekend. I recommend The Fish Bowl midweek for families.

Extraordinary! My first visit ever coming here, and I enjoyed every minute!!! The drinks, the food, the wine, the bars, the pools, the cabin we stayed in, the lake, the golf carts, shopping, activities, and things to do and see!! The Fish Bowl was fun to have a beer and get some put in bay seafood. We will be back again!!!

We have visited many times. The liveliness is so much fun. While it is not in the Caribbean, it feels like a bit of the tropics. This is for families during the day, but definitely for adults at night. Be prepared for higher food prices. The Fish Bowl was fun with an entertainer. It is a neighborhood-style pub. We stayed at the state park and adored it.

Fantastic Day Expedition from Cleveland. Approximately 65 miles from Cleveland, South Bass Island is the most advanced of all the Lake Erie islands. Book the fast ferry ride and lease one of the many golf carts to scour this small Island. There is an excellent commercial area with shops, eating places, and rural areas. The Fish Bowl was our favorite! Take advantage of the Perry Memorial Tower with the National Park Service Center. It is worth the trip by itself.

Fred P.

If you live near Cleveland, take the hour or so trip to Port Clinton and the Jet Express to South Bass Island. Whether you want the beachfront, a visit to one of the loftiest monuments in the nation, or one of the numerous great restaurants, this Island is for you. There is a winery as well! Lease a golf cart, ride around the roads, or head off on one of the serpentine roads and check out the Islands' old houses and Bed and Breakfasts. Numerous small resorts and home rentals for weekend stays. The views on the Ferry over are excellent, and the Island is exceptionally picturesque. For lunch, try The Fish Bowl.

Good eats and good courtesy. We recommend The Fish Bowl for the carrot cake, the piled deli sandwich (delicious), and the seafood plates. Good location right in the center of town. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but the waiter provided good service, and our food orders were hot when served and correct!

Michelle R.

I love this place. The Fish Bowl atmosphere and the meals are both excellent. They were always pleased with the fried fare from here (onions, rings, and perch fish). Consistently golden and crispy. They keep the oil nice and pure from the lack of grease and no flavor cross-contamination. I hope they keep up the great job!

We enjoyed drinks at The Fish Bowl & chose to order meals. The perch & pierogies dinner portion was enough for my husband and me to share. The perch was perfect, large pieces, breading was excellent. One of the finest I've had! The drinks were good, and the team was attentive & pleasant. I will go back. We also had a great meal at the goat put-in-bay

So I arrived at Put-In-Bay looking for something I've been overlooking lately in my life. I discovered it. In The Fish Bowl, I walked into a great atmosphere. Everybody in there was enjoying the time of their lives! The bartender Kayla was out of this planet. Her disposition and all-around aura kept the bar packed throughout my stint there. Amid all the fun, I was introduced to something you call the "world's" best mozzarella sticks. Let me tell you. They weren't fibbing! The flavor, crunch, and perfection of the liquefied cheese. Gosh, I wish I was back there just pondering about them. I met with the Chef and everything. If anything, the mozzarella sticks alone motivate visiting the Island. Perfection. Life Changer. Enough said.

The Fish Bowl What a fun bar and grill! Highly recommend the live music and libations on the left side and the great chow on the right side of the restaurant. We had so much fun that we went two days in a row. The performers and bar team were fantastic! You have to do the shark shots as they were so vastly fun as a group. On the eatery side, we had the walleye bites and yellow perch sandwiches, minus the buns. So fresh and delicious! the fish bowl put in bay is our go-to place from now on!

Harold B.

Another stop for our annual Put-In-Bay experience is The Fish Bowl—great specialty shark shots and other specialty beverages. You'll adore the live entertainment, appreciated either inside or out on the side terrace. They also serve some fantastic food. Be sure to seize some souvenirs, too!

For all adventurous types, the drink of the same name as the venue, "the fish bowl," is meant to be SHARED. I ordered two, trying to understand what it was - a fishbowl with four straws. Fortunately, I had assistance!

Been coming to Put-in-Bay for years and never stopped here. Glad we checked out The Fish Bowl. Excellent choices of beers. They also had live entertainment going on. I will be back next time at Put In Bay. The fish bowl put in bay gets our vote for best put-in-bay restaurants
