The Keys Details

This is where Put-in-Bay and Florida’s Key West cross. Each visitor greets the beautiful two-tiered building of The Keys as they disembark from the Jet Express Ferry. Swing by for one of their signature rum cocktails such as the Painkiller or Rum Punch to start your trip. There is ample parking for Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Rentals in front of the building and the Local Color Gift Shop.

On one of their decks, take a seat and relax in for a while! For a lavish and relaxing afternoon, this is the ideal spot. To pair with your fruity cocktail, start with one of their mouthwatering appetizers.

Paired with a classic island blend of Bahamian Conch along with onions and bell peppers, the Conch Fritters are a favorite. This meal is then lightly fried and served with their signature Key Lime Tartar Sauce.

The 1⁄2 lb Peel and Eat Shrimp really makes you experience the lifestyle on the island. With their Apostle Cheese Curds, which are breaded Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds served with Sriracha ranch, pick a more regional classic.

Their menu is comprehensive, and you’ll have to come back to try each of their culinary delights. Their zesty take on a perch is a must-try. Lightly hand-breaded for an incredible flavor blend, the perch fillets are served with their Key Lime tartar sauce.

The Island Tacos, Grouper Reuben, and Carnitas Rice Bowl are other unbelievable entrees. The Keys Restaurant is owned and operated by the same folks who operate The Boardwalk Restaurant,  Hooligans Irish Pub, and the Dairy Isle so you know they know their stuff when it comes to food!

Great service and food! I had the perch tacos. Fresh, flavorful. I asked what the sauce was but was told it’s a secret. Reuben Balls were also very good! We will be back!

Stopped for a drink and appetizers. The cocktails were unique and very interesting. Basil mojito was the bomb. Had dinner of appetizers. They were very good. Would recommend it to anyone.

The restaurant was recommended by our B&B as a quality dining experience. We were impressed with the atmosphere, service, and food.

The dining on the patio was so pleased with the cool clear weather. And what great food! I chose two appetizers and half a House Salad, and my companion had the rib eye steak served with seasonal vegetables. Fresh bread and dipping oil with balsamic was served as we waited for our meals – very tasty.

My half-salad was a generous serving of beautiful colorful mixed greens. The oysters Rockefeller were served piping hot and absolutely delicious; the stuffed mushroom caps (Italian sausage) baked with cheese and flavorful marinara were also hot out of the oven and tasty.

The steak was perfectly cooked, and the freshly cooked vegetable mix still had a body and not overcooked. We’re already talking about another island visit and plan to make this place a part of the experience.

My friend and I had the fish tacos and they were great! Only ordered one and It had 2 big pieces of fish on it. The drink I had was called lime in the coconut and was yummy! We ate out on the covered patio and had a really nice vibe to it.

We just returned from a visit to Put-in-Bay and we were pleasantly surprised to try this quality gourmet restaurant for dinner. We each had one of the walleye meals and found them to be superb. We tried it based on other reviews and were not disappointed.

If you plan on eating here on a weekend reservations are a must. We had about a half-hour wait on a Tuesday, without reservations. However, definitely worth the wait!

My wife and I sat in the dining room area. Really neat animals and goat and cool things hung from the ceiling. We got a chef’s platter with meats and cheeses for 2 and split two of the perch tacos loaded and were amazing! She got a Moscow mule and the drink was awesome service fast and nice very very very good.
