On Saturdays and Sundays, a breakfast buffet is served to begin at 8 am. Tippers regular menu features Perch and Walleye baskets and sandwiches, spaghetti and meatballs, wings, chicken strips, and burgers.
The Famous Beer Barrel Saloon
The Beer Barrel Saloon is a favorite of both tourists and island locals alike. Hosting live entertainment from April to October, Live music begins in May on the weekends, and the calendar expands to daily events June through August. The calendar is then scaled down to weekends once fall rolls around.
Many of the most talented musicians and bands in the country can be seen at the Beer Barrel Saloon. This includes Mustang Sally, Captain Sweet Shoes, Dan Stewart, and Kenny Kidd, to name a few. The outside patio is the perfect place to enjoy those summer island breezes and a refreshing cocktail.
The famous bar measures 405 feet, 10 inches, and is even taller than the nearby Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument. With an impressive 160 bar stools, 56 beer taps, and a seating capacity of 1,200! On busy nights, the bar employs over 20 bartenders and opens two extra bars in the back and on the building’s sides. This spot can get pretty packed! Everyone loves hanging out at the Beer Barrel!
Tippers and the Beer Barrel Saloon are both located on the site of the famous old Colonial Building. This historically beautiful wooden structure tragically burned to the ground in 1988. For just shy of 100 years, the Colonial Building was home to various businesses, including a dance hall, skating rink, and a bowling alley.

A friend and I stopped at Tippers for a late lunch after riding our bikes all over the island. We have been here before so we knew what to expect. The food was very good. The hamburger was nice and thick with a generous portion of French fries.
Our server (Sandy) did an outstanding job waiting on us. The dining area was fairly busy as people were watching the Ohio State football game, but Sandy did a great job attending to our needs for the meal. She was very personable and professional. The food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, and it was served hot.
The atmosphere was great. The floors and tables were definitely clean, despite a busy day.
Stopped at Tippersfor drinks and tried their pizza specials and I highly recommend the Mac & Cheese pizza was very good!
We dropped in Tippers a couple of times over a quiet weekend while docked on A Dock. I continue to favor their Brandy Alexander over all others! Brunch on Saturday was fantastic, with several egg options in addition to the normal fare.
Service was outstanding as usual – Patty handled the crowd in the bar during the Ohio State Football game with grace and great service throughout!
My wife and I did our traditional May visit to Put-in-Bay and had our usual steak dinner at Tippers. The steak was reasonably priced (8 oz. at &15.99), and was very tasty. Our service was quick and friendly. The perfect place for a nice comfortable dinner with your spouse.
One should also take in Happy Hour at Tippers. This starts at 4 pm and runs I believe till 8 pm. It is always a treat to hear the stories of the local islanders, and a great place to meet others. The beverages are plentiful and affordable. Patty has been behind the bar for years and is so kind and quick. It’s a great place.
Large menu with many different choices but focusing on seafood. The presentation was far above what I was expecting, and the portions were generous. Prices are very reasonable for the area and service was prompt. The only ding was the decor; the 1970s want their furniture and colors back.
We spent a lot of time with Patty and some other servers over 3 days. The food was really good. We had Perch, Walleye Nachos, the Tomahawk steak and the sampler platter during the Browns game. Everything was VERY good. The steak was great.
The restaurant was recommended by the Put-in-Bay Resort as a quality dining experience. Outstanding Place, Great Food, and Bar!
We stopped in on many occasions this past boating season and were always warmly welcomed! We had lunch several times and found them always very tasty with excellent service. Bar service is always outstanding! We’ll be back often next season! Lunch drinks several times
My family and I went to dinner at tippers restaurant on May 31. We started with a sampler platter, I ate the cowboy steak that was cooked perfect, my wife and daughter ate the tippers club. Everything was very good and the waitress sandy did excellent work and was always on the lookout for our table.
Food is great. The staff is super friendly. Rich history. I literally eat here every day I’m on the island. 10/10 would recommend grabbing a bite and a drink before a show at the Beer Barrel right next door
Went on a two-bus charter tour. They fed about 100 of us. The food was fresh and plentiful. Nice protein selections and great veggies. The staff was outstanding. If you are planning a party for a large group, this is the place for you.
This is my favorite restaurant on the island. Everything on the new menu is amazing and the service is fantastic every time. The portions are big and the food is delicious. I recommend the Cowboy Steak and the BYOB Burgers. Cool vibe too!
Great tasting Brandy Alexanders our waiter was fabulous wonderful cheerful helpful .. the playwright was clean the restrooms were clean the atmosphere was cheerful Pleasant the weather was wonderful Put-in-Bay was a nice fun Sunday Funday
We loved our dinner here! We had the surf and turf special for two and it was fantastic. The meal included an 8 oz. sirloin, three jumbo shrimp in a delicious white sauce, salad, potato, and side vegetable. We moved to the bar afterward for a couple of after-dinner drinks.
Super service from our bartender and great prices! We enjoyed ourselves so much, we were back another evening for drinks and loaded nacho chips. Another great time! We will be back to Tippers again and again.
