 Put-in-Bay 2020 Events Update

-Here’s the latest status about island events 2020 update as we go to prepare this post Keep in mind that the events that have not been canceled are subject to change.

The official Put-in-Bay Spring Fling is a go at the new and upgraded location, the Put-in-Bay Resort. The resort is sold out but overflow rooms are being directed to Bay Lodging and the Edgewater Hotel. Call 888-742-7829

The June 6th, 2020, Middle Bass Island Volleyball and Cornhole Tournament have been canceled.

The Put-in-Bay Music Festival scheduled for early June has been canceled and rescheduled for 2021. A rather poor decision considering the event was to take place outside.

The Pooch Parade scheduled for Saturday, June 13th, is canceled.

The dates for the Community Swim/Sail have been changed, but the programs will take place. See the news post for the dates and registration information. The Community Swim/Sail Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser is canceled for this year.

Founder’s Day, which was scheduled for June 13th, has been moved to Sept. 12, 2020.

May’s Island Wide Garage Sale was canceled and has now been rescheduled for Saturday, September 26th.

The Pirate Fest originally scheduled for the end of June has been canceled. Another poor decision by an out of touch commerce department.

4th of July Fireworks are still scheduled for Independence Day. The annual Junior Regatta in mid-July has been canceled. The Middle Bass Museum Fundraiser scheduled for the end of July has been canceled.

Renee Market tells us it’s full steam ahead for Island Green Week scheduled for the first week of August. We will keep you posted.

The Put-in-Bay Fall Ball is a 100% GO after the successful Spring Fling promoters are excited!

The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Museum Fundraiser Auction scheduled for early August is still on. Both Senior Sail and Powerboat Regattas are still scheduled. Bash at the Bay scheduled for Aug. 26th and 27th at the Put-in-Bay Airport has been canceled. After consulting with the headlining acts it was decided that the safety of the concert-goers out-weighed holding the event. Work is already underway to secure acts for 2021 the concert, which is slated to be a 2-day event in August. Tickets for that show will go on sale this fall. Watch the 2020 Events update for more info.

The Miller Boat Line 5K is still on for Sept. 19th, but those in charge say they are continually reviewing conditions. The Great Lakes Islands Alliance Meeting which would have brought representatives from islands all over the Great Lakes to the islands in Lake Erie has been canceled and is being planned for 2021. No word on Halloween at the Bay, but with riots, Covid-19 and an economic crisis, we’ve got plenty of scary things going on all summer. Stay tuned for the official 2020 Events Update. We will try to keep you informed as soon as our somewhat unorganized “chamber” releases information.

One thing for sure, even if an event is canceled, there are always many fun things to do at Put-in-Bay. Don’t believe the hype from some websites that claim the island is “closed” I mean who would really make such a ridiculous statement?
