The Old Forge Particulars
In a quaint brick building with plenty of patio seating, The Old Forge is very situated. Dine under one of their wide umbrellas and enjoy Put-In-Bay’s sights and sounds. The house used to be the shop of an old blacksmith. In 2012, the Old Forge opened under the leadership of three friends. Under the management of the three friends who spent their time renovating this 120-year-old building with a lot of sweat and a ton of affection, The Old Forge finally had its grand opening.
The Forge Menu Highlights
The Old Forge delivers four different menus. Let’s begin with the menu of their brunch. Open every day at 8 a.m., this is the perfect place on Put-in-Bay to start your day.
As a feather pancake loaded with all sorts of excellent ingredients, their breakfast crepes are light and delicious. This Classic blends eggs, cheese, and bacon. Pecos Bills adds pico de gallo and corn salad to the south-of-the-border kick. Smoked salmon, arugula, cheese, and a poached egg are included in the Fancy Pants Crepe.
The delight doesn’t stop with crepes. Some of their offerings are eggs benedict, with prosciutto, breakfast burritos, kale salad with goat cheese, and succulent sliders. For those looking for a lighter bite, they still make sure to have healthier choices.
Chicken, pork, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and sriracha cream are all packed inside The Crazy Sam. The Caprese is a fine combination of mozzarella, basil, and tomato. For a taste boost, make sure to add avocado! With a sophisticated combination of prosciutto, apple, and balsamic reduction it is the famous Bodee.
Drinks at The Forge
The full bar whips up mimosas, mojitos, and any sort of cocktail you want. They have The Forge Martini and the Cosmo Kramer, which are just some of their signature cocktails. With fresh strawberries and fresh lemon, the Cosmo Kramer knocks on your door. With brunch, try a Forge 75 or a Forge Bloody Mary. They have a beautiful garden bar on the side of the building that includes amazing and relaxing scenery while enjoying breakfast, mimosas, or any of their delicious menu items!
Oh my…Those Sweet Crepes!
Sweet crepes are enjoyed by everyone! The Forge is passionate about their take on the sweet crepe. Little Miss Sunshine is exactly that, a slice of lemon curd and mascarpone sunshine! The Plain Jane which includes cinnamon and sugar is a classic mix, but the way to go is often classic! The Buckeye Stage, where peanut butter and chocolate meet in heaven, is extra decadent.
Tucked away in downtown Put-In-Bay on a quaint corner, The Forge is low-key, yet welcoming, casual yet with outstanding service. It is very similar to the Put-in-Bay Resort Hotel, the Bay Lodging Resort, and the Edgewater Hotel. They are neighbors of the Reel Bar, Hooligans Irish Pub, and Put-In-Bay Brewery and Distillery and across the street from Tippers Restaurant.
On Put-In-Bay, there are so many things to visit, from the downtown attractions to the destinations a little farther south, such as Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center along with Nature and Wildlife Center of the Lake Erie Islands. Visitors come from all over the Midwest to this island to spend an unforgettable time on South Bass Island for the summer of their lives.

WOW! It’s about time Put-in-Bay restaurants tried something other than burgers and pizza. The Old Forge Restaurant is our new favorite place to go for breakfast. perfect place to sit outside and watch the people!
Love those shrimp tacos! Service was great and the food as always was perfect, just the right amount! Wish they were open late at night! The Old Forge does it right!
Had lunch while sitting outside visiting Put In Bay. Staff wore masks and we’re friendly. Food took a bit but was worth the wait!. The Truffle Fries were great and our family tried a few of the crepes and will return when visiting again
One of the best breakfast meals and quality we have had in quite a while! We ate outside the Old Forge on the beautiful patio! The wife had the breakfast tacos & breakfast potatoes! She absolutely loved it the quality and the portion size, 3 tacos. I had a breakfast panini called the Famous Amos with egg & sausage & breakfast potatoes! Very good freshly squeezed orange juice & Mimosas! Amazing overall experience, a must-stop for breakfast!!!!
We had brunch at the Old Forge on our second day at Put-in-Bay. The food was delicious. Drinks are a little on the pricey side, but excellent and worth it.
We went back later for crepes (think desert) to go and they were the best I’ve ever had. A lively outdoor patio made it very quaint and enjoyable. Highly recommend. We will go back if we make it back to Put-in-Bay again!
The Old Forge foodie guys type of place. Great food that is far above the usual burgers and fries on the island. I had some delicious mussels served in their shells with a garlic butter sauce. The crepes are great for brunch. The Forge also serves the best latte I’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot. The wait staff is super friendly and efficient too. We will be back the net trip to Put-in-Bay!
Stayed at the Put-in-Bay Resort (Great lace) on the island for the weekend and the Old Forge was a perfect spot for breakfast. Everything arrived fast and as ordered! Would definitely recommend and go back there the next time we’re at Put-in-Bay.
The cocktails are fantastic, especially the specialty coffee drinks. It is a cute little quiet spot to relax with a cocktail. You can also order off their full menu.
The Old Forge is a very cool establishment. The food was delicious. The menu is unique. The service was good. The drink menu was good. A very fine stop on the island for food & drinks.
If you prefer not to eat bar grub and appreciate the talent of a chef, this is the restaurant for you! Love the crepes and the pork chop was nicely presented. Vegan and Gluten-free options.
Time after time the Old Forge surpasses our expectations. Quality food and good service as well. Hard to find these days!
