The simple and functional restaurant is hidden off the beaten path and somewhat tucked away from downtown Put-in-Bay. When leaving the downtown area, head up Catawba Avenue keeping Hooligans and then Reel Bar on your right side. When you come to the stop sign, Joe’s Bar will be on your left! You can’t miss the Red Barn style building!

Conveniently located for those camping at South Bass Island State Park, Joe’s Bar offers up a respite from the craziness of downtown in a peaceful, wooded setting.

.The picnic tables in their large outdoor patio are a perfect place to enjoy one of their famous Sloppy Joe sandwiches or an Artichoke Asiago Dip. The fun yard games make this a place to waste away the hours. Challenge your friends to a supersized game of Jenga or Corn Hole, an island favorite pastime.

South Bass Island State Park offers camping and has a lovely park right on Lake Erie. A pebble stone beach can be found for swimming in the lake as well as a public use boat launch. Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rentals rents Jet Skis, small boats, and other water-related toys. 

A shelter house and picnic areas are available for rent, as well as cabins and a spacious campground. Cottages provide an extra bit of comfort and are full of rustic charm. They are available with a three-night minimum stay from Memorial Day until mid-September. Sleeping up to six people includes a living room with a DVD player and a full kitchen with a cookstove (no oven), sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, pots & pans, & utensils. If you are looking for something a bit more modern, the Put-in-Bay Home Rentals downtown is your best bet.

Saunders Golf Course is right across the street. This nine-hole par 3 (with one par 4) s challenging and really fun to play. The course is one of the few places golf carts aren’t allowed! You can play a competitive game of golf before heading to Joe’s Bar!

 

The Lake Erie Wildlife Museum is a short walk up Catawba. A recent addition to the sprawling complex makes it unique to Put-in-Bay, Perry’s Cave is one of the popular Put-in-Bay Attractions and features a limestone cave with an underground lake. You can take the cave tour then head over for a game of mini-golf, gemstone mining, or a stint in the Butterfly House. And of course, a drink at Joe’s Bar to end the day just seems perfect.

Joes Bar and Grill is a must-stop when you go to Put-in-Bay. We make it the first stop each time we go. They have great food. joe's bar put-in-bay menu is pretty simple. It can get pretty active, so patience is needed when you go there. They do not have a wait staff, so have a buddy save you a seat and buy them a drink at the bar. If you are into a competition, play a game of corn hole and make some new friends.

Joes Bar and Grill is a fun dive bar. Great décor. 1800s cemetery across the street. Smaller menu. I had Eddie's Big Bad Bratwurst, and my friends had fried pickles and burgers. I was told the burgers were juicy, and the pickles were good as well. The Bratwurst was great it came with chips that were also great.

The Sloppy Scotty and sliders with pepper jack cheese were excellent! Perfect Bloody Mary's too. Highly recommend! Murphy and Billy were super friendly and accommodating too. I always try to stop in Joes Bar and Grill when I'm visiting Put-in-Bay. The staff has always been amicable. I'm vegetarian, so I can't try the hotdogs, but they look wonderful...maybe one day they will offer a veggie dog, but they do have a beyond burger alternative as well as several other vegetarian appetizers. I love their large patio area, and they have plenty of parking for cars and golf carts.

Great place! We had Cory as a bartender for the first half of our visit to Joes Bar and Grill, and he was awesome!!! Logan came in the second half of our stay and was just as cool! We just returned from our first camping trip to Put-in-Bay, and we had a wonderful time. The campground was lovely and much more affordable than any other lodging option on the Island. Our site had a stunning view of the lake, which was truly breathtaking. The only downside was that golf carts were not allowed in the park, which was a bit inconvenient. However, there is a taxi service available that will pick you up at your site. The shower facilities were clean and private, with each one having a locking door. The staff at the front desk were amiable and helpful. Although we brought our bicycles, getting to town was a pretty long ride, especially if you plan on enjoying some adult beverages. Walking would have been too far, but the taxi service compensated for this inconvenience. Great little place nearby for drinks and food called Joes bar. Overall, we had a great experience and would consider camping at Put-in-Bay again.
