Put-in-Bay Airport Fly In

Put-in-Bay’s Airport local pilot group, 3Whiskey2 Pilots Association, is organizing a fly-in for August 3, 2013, at the Put-in-Bay airport. “Fly-ins” are popular weekend events nationwide when pilots fly their aircraft of all makes and models to a familiar airport to share their enthusiasm for aviation. Such events typically draw a wide variety of aircraft and types of pilots. Put-in-Bay’s airport is well known as a favorite destination for pilots and one of four Bass Island airports.

Often fly-ins are combined with a pancake breakfast. In this case, Put-in-Bay’s fly-in will include a lunchtime cook-out from around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring burgers, brats, and soft drinks. Any funds raised from the lunch will be donated to the Put-in-Bay Port Authority. Transportation will be arranged so visiting pilots may visit downtown Put-in-Bay Ohio restaurants, attractions, and shops while they are here. Some pilots may stay overnight at one of the Put-in-Bay Hotels and enjoy the nightlife. The event is open to the public even if you are not a pilot and costs nothing. So, come to join in on the fun and check out some cool airplanes!

3 Whiskey2 Pilots Association, LLC is a group of local pilots here at Put-in-Bay. The association has grown to over twenty members
since it was formed about one-and-a-half years ago. The group’s name comes from the official airport identifier assigned by
the FAA for the Put-in-Bay airport, which is “3W2,” pronounced “3-Whiskey-2.”
