Put In Bay School News May 2012

Put in Bay School News – For our students involved in extra-curricular activities, Dr. Brett Kuns will once again be offering free physical examinations. The date for physical exams is Thursday, May 3rd. A schedule and forms were sent home prior to this date for parents to complete. It is hard to believe we are preparing for the end of another school year. The Spring concert is scheduled for Thursday, May 17th, at 7:00 pm, and the annual Awards Day is set for Thursday, May 31st. These programs are two sure signs we are closing in on another school year.

In other school news, graduation is just around the corner. This year’s graduation will feature speeches from our class Valedictorian Dallas Mohn and our Salutatorian Anna Engel. Dallas was recently honored at the annual Ottawa County Top Ten Banquet, where he received the Earl Johnson Scholarship. Addressing this year’s graduating class will be keynote speaker Mr. Louis Suttmann. Louis is a 2005 graduate of Put in Bay High School.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management, Marketing, and Communication from the University of Dayton in August 2009 and is currently the University of Dayton Director of Basketball Operations, coordinating all travel, directing summer camps, and managing all operations within the UD women’s basketball program.

Before this,  Mr. Suttman spent three years as a resident advisor and athletics director at the American International School in Salzburg, Austria. He has spent a summer working in the marketing department for the Toledo Mud Hens and recently cycled across America. Louis has accomplished a great deal in a short period, and we look forward to hearing from him on graduation night.

This is the time of year when students are recognized for their achievements. On Friday, May 4th, Sophomore Cody Porche and Junior Shawn Seaberg will be honored at the Ottawa County “Nine-to-Five” Banquet for their positive outlook and academic improvement. Good luck to eighth graders Meredith Engel, Ian Pippert-Ladd, and Jessica Krueger when they compete at the Tri-County Academic Challenge on May 9th. Best of luck to our archery team as they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for the National Archery Tournament on May 12th.

Juniors Molly Domer and Karina Kowalski will represent Put-in-Bay School at Buckeye Girls State this summer. Sophomores Madeline Pugh and Zoly Urge will participate in the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Seminar in June. In addition, Zoly qualified for the National Student Leadership Conference at the University of California at Berkeley will be held in July. Congratulations to all our students on their accomplishments, and we will have more to share in next month’s Put in Bay School News.
