Put-in-Bay June Events For 2017 Exciting & Numerous!

Put in Bay Founder’s Day • June 4th Put-in-Bay is an amazing place to be for June Events. Every weekend has special events and fun things to do here on South Bass Island. We like to think of Sunday, June 4th, as the opening day of a month-long celebration of our Put-in-Bay island community when we celebrate Founder’s Day.

Founder’s Day weekend allows us to pause and think about the vision Jose De Rivera had when he first came to the Lake Erie Islands. Over 30 different vendors and food providers share their goods from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in DeRivera Park here in downtown Put-in-Bay. We’ll have live blues music by Mojo Theory, original crafts and clothes for sale.

Water Trail Ribbon Cutting • On June 9th, we do a ribbon cutting for the new water trail system at South Bass Island State Park at 6:30 p.m. The Put-in-Bay Township Park District, along with their partners, the National Park Service Rivers, Trails and Conservation Program and Ohio Sea Grant, are proud to announce Lake Erie Island Water Trails which features circular paddling routes and associated public access points around South Bass, Middle Bass, North Bass, Kelleys Island and the Catawba and Marblehead peninsular area.

Music Festival • June 10th Love music? The Put-in-Bay Music Festival is on Saturday, June 10th at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. The day-long festival opens at 11 a.m. with music until almost 8 p.m. The music festival events feature new grass, roots, and rock music. There will be several music workshops during the day for music learners of all ages and abilities.

Brig Niagara Visit • On June 16th,17th & 18th the US Brig Niagara returns to Put-in-Bay for the 4th Annual Put-in-Bay Maritime Celebration. Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial will host the event this year, which features a sail away on board the Brig Niagara Friday afternoon. Rangers at the Memorial and the crew of the Niagara will be giving deck tours and be teaching maritime skills that boaters of all ages will want to learn. For more information about the events, The website visitputinbay.org will have all the latest updates and links to sign up for the sail away on Friday.

Pyrate Fest IX • On June 22nd-25th Pirates return to the island for Piratefest IX “Collision Course.” Pyrate Fest IX kicks off with cardboard boat races on Thursday afternoon, June 22nd, and then the Pyrate Village arrives on Friday in DeRivera Park downtown Put in Bay. This family-friendly event includes the Faire Winds Circus,re-enactors, Bob Gilmore Cannon Master, and a costume contest sponsored by the Cayman Islands. The best pirate outfit will take two lucky pyrates to the Cayman Islands aboard Cayman Airways to spend a Caribbean getaway at Sunset House.

If previous years are any indication Put-in-Bay Hotels and Resorts will be sold out quite early for these events and reservations are strongly suggested!
