Put-in-Bay Restaurants Reel Bar partner and GM Andy Christensen tells us the Reel Bar had a fantastic first year. Between remodeling, launching a new brand, and staying open through the winter, there’s a lot to be proud of. Yet, one of the unique things Reel Bar did last year is one of the things he and his partner Ray Fogg are most proud of. It was a charity event they were about to repeat.
Last year, You may have noticed that all the bar stools had names painted on them. The names belonged to islanders, cottagers, regulars, tourists, and even a few unknown folks. How did they get there? Reel Bar allowed anyone who donated $100 to one of three island charities to have their name painted on a bar stool for the season. They raised a combined $3,000 for the Put-in-Bay Fire Department, the Historical Society, and the Swim Sail Program.
Those bar stools are receiving a fresh coat of white paint and will be ready for new names (or maybe even some of the exact words) in return for a charitable donation for the 2015 season. You can sign up and donate beginning Friday, May 8, 2015, while stools last. You better hurry, though, because they were all gone in a very short time last year!
Andy says Reel Bar is launching a new menu starting in May with favorites from last year and new items as well. And live entertainment will include island favorites like Bob Gatewood and The Ray Fogg Show, along with great entertainment from around the country like Shane Piasecki (Nashville), Hey Monea (Cleveland), Barry Cuda (Key West), Chris Logsdon (Columbus) and Jeff Clark (Key West) to name just a few.
