Senior Center News March 2017

Put-in-Bay Ice Fishing is coming to an end, and before you know it, spring buds will appear. The Senior Residents living on the Island have been very busy over these last few months. It seems not even frigid weather can keep them down. No matter what crazy idea I come up with – our Seniors are always game! Needless to say, there is never a dull moment at the Senior Center!

Our “Let’s Get Moving” Program has really been a big hit with lots of participation. It’s all fascinating to see so many people in the community embrace our focus on “Health and Wellness.” Our calendar consisted of various “FUN ACTIVITIES TO DO WHILE LIVING ON AN ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER.” We tried a little of everything, including Yoga, Tai Chi, Water Aerobics, Strength Training, Latin Dance, Nia, Country Line Dancing, Ballroom, Cha-Cha, and Jive; we even tried Belly Dancing! It was a hoot! Everyone seemed to have a good time while staying very active.

I want to take this opportunity to wish “Happy Birthday” to some extraordinary people in my life. “HAPPY 17th MAX (3/2nd) & MICHALA (3/12th) and Pooch Happy 61st! I Love You With All My Heart! Mark your calendars – You’ll all be invited. Mrs. Rence and her French Club will have a French Cuisine Brunch Fund Raiser at the Senior Center on Sunday, March 28th. The menu sounds absolutely delicious and will surely be an enjoyable afternoon. All the proceeds will help fund their trip to Montreal.

Finally, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 3rd, at Perry’s Cave. Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with a visit from The Easter Bunny Himself! And, just like last year, our Senior Center will fill over 3500 eggs for this “eggciting” event. Fun, Fun, Fun!
