Put-in-Bay Library News March 2017

The Put-in-Bay Library is pleased to announce the return of “Playtime/ Storytime for Toddlers.” In March, we will be hosting
two opportunities to bring your toddler to sing, to learn finger plays and to listen to stories. On Monday, March 13th, our theme will be “Fairy Tales,” featuring princes and princesses.

Two weeks later, on Monday, March 27th, we will sing and read about “The Alphabet.” All children up to age 3 are invited to attend. Both programs will start at 10 a.m.

Put-in-Bay Library “Bingo for Books” in March will be held on the first Tuesday of the month (7th), beginning at 4:30 p.m. We have
the cards and books for prizes. Come for an evening of fun! Lots of great books to choose when a “BINGO” is called! It is suggested that participants know how to play Bingo and how to read numbers from 1 to 75. Younger patrons may want to have a parent or caregiver stay to assist. This is by far one of the most popular monthly activities at the Put-in-Bay library! Don’t miss out on this fun, family activity! All welcome!

Mop Doll- How do you make a “mop doll” out of an old-fashioned mop head? Come to the Put-in-Bay Library on March 8th and Keri Carnicom will help you design your own. Join us for an afternoon of fun and friends! All needed supplies will be provided.

CONNEX -On Tuesday, March 14th, join us at the Put-in-Bay Library at 4:30 p.m., as we attempt to put together two CONNEX kits in one night! CONNEX is a do-it-yourself science kit and is suitable for children eight years old and up. Thanks to the community of Put-in-Bay’s support of our Scholastic Book Fair in the fall, the library earned over $750 to spend on Scholastic merchandise. We were able to purchase eight Connex kits for our library. All completed kits will be displayed at the library.

All Things Irish-Join Put-in-Bay Librarian Susan Duff for a very special program on Wednesday, March 15th titled “All Things Irish,” in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. This program, which will start at 1:00 p.m., will feature conversations about Ireland’s culture, history and great things to do while visiting Ireland. Sue will have Irish food to share! Participants are encouraged to bring Irish dishes and stories to tell about their Irish heritage or travel experiences. Irish Blessing from Us to You: “May your troubles be less and your blessings more and nothing but happiness come through your door.”

Movie & Pizza-Families and kids of all ages are invited to join us at the Put-in-Bay Library for a kid-friendly movie on Thursday, March 16th at 5 p.m. that will be announced two weeks before the date. Pizza from Blu Luna and beverage will be served. Color, Coffee and Conversation Back by popular demand: “Color, Coffee, and Conversation!” Need a break? Come to the Put-in-Bay Library  on Wednesday, March 22nd at 1 p.m. and relax with a cup of coffee while you color your worries away with one of our adult coloring books. Visit with friends and neighbors. Invite your own friends to come along! We supply the coloring books and colored pencils. You bring your imagination! at the library on Tuesday, March 21st at 4:30 p.m. All ages and families are welcome to attend!

Thanks to a Put-in-Bay Library patron suggestion: Coming soon (April?) will be a program presented by Nan Burr of Burr Funeral
Home in Chardon, Ohio on “End of Life Planning.” If you have suggestions for a program you would like to see offered, let us know. We will try our best to get it on the calendar! We love our patrons’ ideas!

As we await the official arrival of spring, stop by the Put-in-Bay library for a book, a DVD  audiobooks to curl up with on the long evening nights. Or, join us for one of our many programs. We love our patrons!
