Parent/Teacher Conferences- Teachers look forward to meeting with each student’s parents on Wednesday, February 2nd, or February 9th. Parent / Teacher Conferences are from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Parents may call the school to confirm their appointment.

Senior Parent Meeting- Put-in-Bay School officials will meet with seniors and their parents on Wednesday, February 2nd, at 6:45 p.m. to discuss the senior class trip, graduation, and local scholarships.

Basketball News- A non-typical weekday home game is scheduled for Thursday, February 3rd, at 3:15 p.m. The girl’s basketball team will be hosting Maumee High School. Come to support the girls after school on this day! The banquet of the end-of-season basketball players and cheerleaders is scheduled for Thursday, February 24th, at 6 p.m. The main entree will be provided. Parents will receive notice on what to bring to the banquet regarding side dishes, desserts, and beverages. Put-in-Bay Taxi Service will be running.

The Put-in-Bay School Board of Education met for reorganization on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Two of the first orders of business were electing Mike Byrnes for President and Billy Market for Vice-President. The board also decided their meetings for 2011 would be on the second Wednesday at 7 p.m. and approved a budget. Susan Harrington requested and received approval for a Physical Education field trip for nineteen archers to attend the State Championships in Columbus on  March 4th and 5th.

The Superintendent discussed repairs to the boiler/ heating system and that a 22-year-old island resident was taking online courses to get a diploma. The Superintendent also discussed encouraging parents to go online to check their child’s academic progress and replace sending progress reports home. The board unanimously voted to amend the Student Handbook, adding Gambling as a Severe Offense resulting in Saturday school and ten demerits.

The Senior Class Trip was approved. It is a mystery trip this year.

Verhoff Dinner- The Put-in-Bay Student Council will host the Annual Jeffrey Verhoff Scholarship Dinner on Friday, March 4th, at the Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. By popular demand, the entree for the evening will be delicious homemade lasagna! The meals cost $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children. Mark your calendar. Your support is appreciated!

Early Release and Winter Break- For winter break, classes will be dismissed at 12:30 on Friday, February 11th. Students will return to school on Monday, February 21st
