In Case You Missed It! Put-in-Bay News January 2017

Put-in-Bay News for January 2017-We are happy to let everyone know that Larry Knaser was released from the hospital and came back to the Put-in-Bay Island before Christmas. According to his wife Tammy, Larry was out of it for quite a while and felt like Rip Van Winkle when he came to and found Trump had been elected President.

The Put-in-Bay Utility Department is asking everyone to check for the signs of leaking water pipes. This is the time of years pipes break. Officials say they believe all the leaks they had in December have been found, but that doesn’t mean more happened. If you spot a leak, you must speak! So call the Utility Department at 419-285-8545.

Plans are in the works for the Jer-Bear and Kurt Put-in-Bay Fishing Tournament which is planned for February 18th. Hopefully, there will be good fishing, but no matter what ice conditions, the banquet will go on. More details to follow. Think Ice!!! Michael and Jean Gora from Middle Bass spend some time traveling in Germany recently. They had dinner with a second cousin, Peter Gora, in Peitz, Germany. Paula Garsteck from the Round House was in the Dominican Republic over the holidays. Put-in-Bay School Superintendent Steve Poe and his wife Dawn were in Fort Lauderdale and Hilton Head over the holiday break. Matt and Laurie Miller spend time at the cottage they recently purchased in Vanderbilt, MI, just north of Gaylord. Amanda Goaziou from the Candy Bar headed to Washington D.C. over the holidays.

Put-in-Bay News reports that Mark Wilhelm started to man the shipping office at Put-in-Bay Airport when the boats stopped running. He hasn’t had to do it for the holidays too often, and it is a big job letting everyone know about their freight.

JF Walleyes, the popular bar/restaurant on Middle Bass is for sale. State Representative Steve Arndt recently presented the Put-in-Bay Jet Express was recognized at the Ohio Travel Association’s 2016 RUBYAwards for its advertising and marketing campaigns.  Did you know a Student Trainee Park Ranger Interpretive Job at Perry’s Monument earns $15.49 per hour. A museum technician can make $19.18 an hour.

Put-in-Bay Ohio Entertainment star Bob Gatewood is working on a new CD. Tom and Rich Petro were at Put-in-Bay around the holidays for some cold, icy hunting and shot eight ducks.

Put-in-Bay News has discovered that the Middle Bass Island State Park Marina in Ottawa County was one of two marinas in Ottawa County to be certified in the State’s Clean Marina program? State-wide, an estimated 425 marinas qualify for the program, but only 71 are currently certified. The Put-in-Bay News-Gazette wishes all our readers a Happy New Year!
