Put-in-Bay End of Season As Island Returns To Tranquility

The 2017 Put-in-Bay season is officially over, and islanders can now look forward to a slower pace after another hectic and, hopefully, successful year serving the hundreds of thousands of visitors who visited our great island. Islanders can now enjoy time socializing with island friends and neighbors who they haven’t seen for the last several busy months. The Put-in-Bay Hotels & Resorts have closed, the last beers for many bars served, and the Put-in-Bay Attractions bundled up and put away until spring.

It’s time for the Harvest Dinner on Friday, November 3rd, to give thanks not for the crops but for the successful tourist season. Again this year, the dinner will be at Tippers Restaurant from 5 to 7 p.m. The next day, come out and enjoy the closedown party at Heineman Winery, where deep-fried turkeys will feed those who gather in the afternoon. You’ll enjoy some mighty fine food and a sip of wine.

The fall season would not be complete without the American Legion events. They will hold their annual Feather (BINGO) Party on Friday, November 10th at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. There will be prizes and lots of fun. The next day, on Saturday, November 11th, the Legion will hold it Veterans Day Dinner at the Put-in-Bay Senior Center. The dinner is for vets and their spouses and significant others. Beverages begin at 5:30 p.m.and dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady’s Christmas Party at Island Hardware will occur on Tuesday, November 28th, from 6 to 9 p.m. You won’t want to miss this! For local holiday shopping this year, the annual Christmas Bazaar will be held on Thursday, November 30th, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. The Lake Erie Islands Conservancy and the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center sponsor the event. Local crafters and artisans are needed, as well as local businesses with Put-in-Bay merchandise. If you want to reserve a table or need additional information, please contact Susan Byrnes at byrnespib@frontier.com or 419-285- 2306. Let’s make this year’s bazaar the best one yet
